The doggie howl. We don't normally hear it in the usual suburbia... however where you are able to live in an area where you live in a trailer park just a fence away from an extensive and populated horse property, also scattered with chickens, goose and the sometimes peacock beauty, not to mention the local dogs (everyone around here has at least one), these animals have become a new aspect of home.
Whenever the local dogs howl, here, it's usually to hale the local emergency vehicle siren rushing off to their mission. Sometimes, when coyotes are vocal in the area, they chime in as well.
Now there's Hannibal, a young female German Shepherd, who lives behind the back fence and has a quirk all her own. Around 4 am the roosters start their morning cry. Here's where she sets herself into an individual doggie.... she wants to be a rooster.
Quite simply the roosters begin to crow then Hannibal raises her voice, starting first with a bit of a growl... then as the roosters continue to crow, her voice get more enthusiastic, cracking into a doggie falsetto. The fun thing is we only hear this as the roosters crow.
It's one of the morning events to which I look forward. It brings such a smile to me when I hear the roosters strive to wake up the neighborhood, then immediately hearing the lil Hannibal doing her best to answer... or to help... their morning cause.
