Morning Moments, Moon Circle

Yes I've been away for a bit, however I just realized how special certain moments are and just had to write about it. It was almost as if I was sitting beside myself observing the fanciful event we call morning.

I admit we are weirdos. We get up at insanely early morning hours to enjoy the peace of early morning. Generally the cold crisp air is accented by sounds of the coyotes, roosters, the occasional creak of a nearby windmill. Then there's our beloved starshine, or moonshadow depending on where we are in the cycle.

This morning started with me getting up first, and turning up the furnace, a decadence we allow ourselves now that the night temperatures have turned a wee bit cold.

After feeding the cat and a couple gulps of diet cola for me from the fridge, I pull on my outdoor garb and go outside to see what the morning had in store.

Moonshadow was definitely about. Then I looked at the temperature and it was twelve degrees! I could almost hear our winter garden experiment crying "Uncle, uncle!"

I come inside and give a little foot jiggle to hubbie. As the papa gets out of bed, that's when Tucker comes alive! He jumps off the bed and does a couple runs up and down the hallway. All we can do is just try to stay out of his way... cuz there's no stopping him, he's a pretty big dog. Then he'll stand in the hall leading to the bedroom, tail wagging so hard it's hitting one side of the hallway then the other (remember we live in a travel trailer).

So now it's time for Tuck to go 'hava'. It's a word we created from a sound Tucker makes when he wants to go outside, kind of a cross between a pant and a snap of the teeth. Tuck goes out to relieve the night's stores and I put his food down. Considering the temperature outside, within a couple minutes, we get absolutely no argument from him to come back inside and eat his 'nummies'. Meanwhile the cat has settled herself by the living room furnace vent, soaking up heat, but also positioning herself strategically for a possible ambush whenever doggie unwittingly trots by.

Now it's stick time. It's Tucker's favorite time of day and loves to chase that stick. We go outside with our morning beverage of choice. This is also our time to remember better times, and dream of better times yet to come, hopefully in our home state of Alaska. A stick is set gently in hubbie's lap. The papa send Tuck on a few runs with the stick, then I look up.

Moon circle! The was a light haze moving across the sky which made this moon circle so pronounced. The whole sky was milky cloudy except around the moon which within that circle was perfectly clear. It was like looking up into a worm hole (yes we're scifi geeks too). Usually a circle around the moon means a change in weather. Not sure what's in store for us, but it sure was cool to witness!

Well, it's official. Arizona has thinned the blood of us former Alaskans. By now fingers and toes are hurting from the cold so time to go inside and enjoy some more of that treasured heat.
